This is a correct Remington Rand 1911A1 that was shipped in 1943. It is one of the guns that has a serial number in the range that Colt also used, resulting in duplicate numbers. This gun appears to be all correct, with the correct Keyes grips, as well as Rock Island Arsenal rebuild and storage facility stamps. A serial number preceded by an 'S' indicates an M1911A1 manufact- ured by Singer (not many of these around - an understatement) 3. A serial number preceded by a 'NO' instead of a 'No' indicates manufacture by Remington-Rand. Seems to have all the correct markings although the serial number is not quite 'even', that is, not neatly lined up. The serial number, 1,5xx,xxx puts it in 1943. It comes with a 1944 marked GI belt holster. The guy is asking $750. As far as the story behind the Remington-Rand. I had one of these about 25 years ago, also a 1943 model IIRC. 17 Remington Fireball Ultra high velocity 4,000 fps bullet.
